Calorie count too high

My Surge may be a tad dated these days, but I have had this issue since the day I brought the device.

Massive inaccuracies with the calorie counting during the day. I have had my Surge on for just over 2 hours now, not done anything to strenuous and it is telling me I have burnt 1,734 calories (Should note the device was off before I put it on my wrist!). Makes me think that the calories it counts during sporting activities must be inaccurate as well?

If I wear it all day, it usually totals up to a whopping 4500/5000 calories. I may be a soldier, but I don't burn that sort of energy during the average day!

A warm welcome to the Fitbit Community @tomfranks1990Cat Very Happy

I'm glad to see that you're still using your Surge, that is one of the top models to do hard workouts. We need to check how your Fitbit account is calculating your calories. Fitbit account provides an estimated amount of calories burned taking in count your BMR ( age, gender, height and weight), so even if you're not wearing your Fitbit or if you're in a sedentary state your Fitbit will calculate your calories your body has burned during the day.

In your case I think that we need to check your settings to make sure that all your data is correct there first, since as you mentioned the calorie count sounds kind of high. If you check your Fitbit.com Dashboard under the section Log > Activity > Calories; you will see more details about it.

For example, this graph is showing the time line of my calories for this day, as you can see from 12:00 AM to 11:59 PM there is an specific amount of calories calculated throughout the day (the tiny red lines), also from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM you will see the large lines that shows calories burned by exercising.

Let's check this information, if you need me to see your stats you can attach an screenshot of what you're getting there.

Hope this helps, I'll be around in case you have more questions! Heart
