Hello @Jiku_1994! Nice to see you again here! I think that the value that you see on your Surge is your estimated calorie burn for the day so far. You still burn calories even if you have been sedentary or were sleeping, even if you're not wearing the Surge as the Account does this for you. It estimates your calorie burn based on your age, gender, height and weight. Once your Surge gets calories from your workouts you will notice that number changes.
This help your Surge to get the calories burned information in a more accurate way! If you have more questions, feel free to come back with any inquiry you might have.
Hope this helps. Till next time!

Hey there @Jiku_1994! Thanks a million for getting back, I totally understand your question, it is something that most of users don't know about Fitbit trackers. As you already know how they work in regards calories burned throughout the day, it will be easier for me to explain how they work in regards calories burned for workouts.
When you choose the option "Workout" from the Shortcuts on your Surge, you will see the isolated count of calories burned and some other stats, so the tracker which is constantly connecting to your Account will take your BMR and will do the calculation of both: your BMR plus the calories burned by your workouts. It will have both for every workout of the Shortcuts that your Surge has, but in the case that you mentioned, when you stop wearing it during that specific activity; you will still be able to see your calories burn from your BMR information.
I hope this helps, let me see if you have any other question!
