Hi, I purchased a used fitbit surge and wore it for the first time today while going to the gym. Before strapping it, I saw that it is showing i have burned 1400 calories, after googling about it I learnt that it is my BMI calories and will burn even if I don't do any exercise. In the gym I burned around 500 calories and now it's showing that I have burned 3500 calories out of which only 500 calories was burned while exercising. The BMI calorie is confusing me and as i am losing weight then should I consider the BMI calorie while taking my diet or not ? Please help.

Consider your body a closed system so, yes, you should take into account your BMI. Total calories burned vs total calories consumed. Make sure you keep your stats up to date so that the BMI is as accurate as possible. As you lose weight you should burn less total calories.
