Here are my stats to start with I am 30 years old 5,8 and 180 lbs. I work out about 4/5 times a week and am not to strict with my diet. Now with that being said I just got this fitbit Surge and I really want to love it, but as I been wearing it for the last week it keeps telling me I am burning about 3000 calories a day give or take a little. I think this is to high, if my BMR is about 1800 how am I burning 1200 more calories a day? I just don't feel that is what is going on because it would put me in a huge deficet, and I should be losing body fat. Although I am not to strict with my diet I do keep my caloric intake under 2000 because I feel that is a healthy number considering how often I been working out. Now I really only been working out for the past month, but 3000 seems a bit to high still. Any help would be great.

Hello @daneamuller, welcome aboard to our community. From time to time I do sports and exercise, but most of the time, I'm not too active and I burned around 2900 cals or 3000 cals in a day. As you already know this include BMR which is almost half of the calories burned.
There is a post from @SebringDon where he explain how the calories are burned, it might be of your interest and it could provide you more information about this.
Let me know what you think and if you need more ideas, I'll be around.
