Hi, @gfencer! I belive the warranty doesn't cover that kind of screen damage, but it couldn't hurt to get in touch with Fitbit Support and see if there's anything they could do for you.

Hey there, @GregoryG! The Fitbit Surge is a fitness super watch tested to be durable and long lasting. Also, your Surge’s screen is made of Gorilla glass 3, which is the standard across a number of other portable electronic devices including mobile phones, portable media players, laptop computer displays, and some television screens. I've found an idea in the Feature Suggestion board called: Screen protector for Fitbit trackers. Make sure you add your vote and comments there to make it more visible.
Your tracker is covered by 1 year warranty and even if the warranty is up you should contact our Support Team, to see if they have other options for you!
Good luck!

MariamFitbit,
You mention that the Fitbit crystal is made of “Gorilla Glass 3”. Well the three (3) Surge watches that I used all had issues of broken crystals. Either the placement of the crystal or something lead to all 3 of my Surge crystals to break/shatter. All is great until the years warranty is expired. I would never recommend Fitbit. The Surge without question has quality issues.
When did the Surge start using Gorilla Glass? It was never Advertised with Gorilla Glass. My 3 Surge fitbit watches were very easily cracked/shattered. Must have been added after all the Surge broken crystals. Or the installation of the crystal is an issue.
Screen protectors you mentioned. How about Quality control? How about customer relations? How about customer support beyond 1 years warranty for an obvious quality control issue?
Good luck? With what?
I did contact Fitbit and was given the standard answer…”After 1 year warranty is up Fitbit isn’t covered!!”
Fitbit has lost a customer and advocate.
