Data on Surge doesn't match dashboard

I stopped my watch after a treadmill run and the distance 4.05 but when I go in the app the distance is 3.96. More and more I am leaning towards an Apple Watch. Between the bands and now inconsistent data I can't figure out why I would stay with a Fitbit

How you doing @Cookie611This is a pretty weird thing, you getting different data after syncing. Has this happened before? I really appreciate the feedback that you're giving. Can you please try to restart your Fitbit Surge before your next workout and let me know if this helps. You mention the Surge band. Are  you having issues with that too? Smiley Embarassed

If after the restart you still have the distance inconsistency, please take a picture of your Fitbit while it is showing the distance stat and also attached a screenshot of the activity on the Fitbit App.

I'll be waiting for your response! Woman Wink

I am on my second replacement because the band keeps pealing. My solution
to try to keep this one in tact is not to sleep with it on so I'm missing
my sleep data. My husband had so many replacements for his surge he gave up
and switched to an Apple Watch. Honestly for what you guys charge you would
think the quality would be better.
I will restart my Fitbit before I run today and see if I have the issue
again.

Hey there @Cookie611! Thanks a lot for getting back. Sorry to hear about your previous Surge. You can keep using the Fitbit Surge at night, I don't think it should be an issue with the band; besides Fitbit trackers are being designed to be worn at night, so you can take advantage of this feature.

In regards of distance missing from your runs while using the treadmill, I don't think that you Fitbit Surge is being inaccurate. Remember that you're comparing it against the machine, and in this one distance is taken from the band. Your Fitbit Surge takes the distance using your steps, as in the treadmill you're not using the GPS option, you can read more information about it in this post. If you're getting different readings, we have to take in count that if you are holding the bars it will loose some steps, also check the stride length of your settings.

To double check the accuracy of your Surge, please follow the accuracy test steps, so we can verify how is this working. Robot Happy

1. Put your Surge on your.
2. Walk 100 steps, making sure to count a step each time one of your feet hits the ground.
3. Pause, then check your tracker to see your step count.

If your tracker counted less than 100 steps or more than 100, please let us know and we'll see if we can investigate further. Sometimes, when you start walking you may notice that your steps may not update on your tracker right away. After about 10-15 continuous steps, you'll notice the steps catch up and start updating in real-time with each step you take.

Also check this information on the website about Accuracy.

Give it a try and let me know how this works for you! Woman Wink

I am not comparing the fit bit to the machine. When I stopped with
activity; the screen on my watch said one distance and then later on in the
day when I went into the dashboard the dashboard had a different number.
Had I taken a picture of my search screen you would have seen the distance
was 4.06; the dashboard read the data as 3.96.

I don't sleep with the fit bit because I don't want to have to get it
replaced again and I have a friend who does not sleep with her's and she
suggested trying that to help keep the band from peeling

Hi @Cookie611, it's alwyas good to see you here! Thanks for the clarification, too bad that you don't have that screenshot; let me take the feedback about this issue anyway. Are you tracking your  runs with GPS or in a machine? Hope the restart works, so you don't have this inconvenience again. I'll be looking foward for your future comments! Robot wink

I think that your friend's suggestion makes sense, but as a friendly tip if you follow the wear and care tips; you should be able to use it at night. You can give it a try in case that you haven't do so.
