Did I waste my money buying a Surge for an Iphone 8? I received my Surge this week. I see it is discontinued, does that mean it may never be updated to work for the Iphone 8? Should I return my Surge and get a Fitbit Ionic instead? I can't believe what a short shelf life the Surge had.

no reason it doesn't work with an iPhone 8.

You stated "no reason it does not work with Iphone 8". I called Fitbit support and they recognize the problem. If you go to fitbit.com/devices it does not list Iphone 8 nor Iphone 8+ as being supported. I don't know if it is the hardware or the IOS upgrade (IOS 11.x). They said it might be another month before it works. I'm tempted to return my Fitbit before the return period expires.

@Roleigh Here is the link that may answer your question. I personally would return it for a refund. https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Surge/Surge-Firmware-Release-16-34-6-1/m-p/2199749#M73688

My watch has an older version, I went through the fitbit help to check for upgrade and it said I have the newest version but I do not have the version mentioned in your link (it is newer than what I have). I guess in the morning, I should call customer support. This is very frustrating. Thanks for letting me know I don't have the latest firmware.

@Roleigh The update rolls out incrementally not all at once. What that means is some people (I don't know how it's decided) get it now some later and some after that. This link explains: https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Surge/Surge-Firmware-Release-16-34-6-1/m-p/2199749#M73688
Give it some thought. The Surge has been discontinued. This latest "update" did not include any "feature" upgrades. Support for the Surge is minimal. If it's not compatible with your phone, it's not likely they will spend the time and money to make it compatible. That's my opinion and it's your decision. Good luck.
