Exercise type: Ruck

Has anyone achieved succes in getting the Fitbit firmware engineers to add in a new exercise type? I would like to add "Ruck" which is like walk/hike but with an additional weight. It would increase the caloric burn estimate. I know I can simulate this by temporarily adjusting my weight in the app but that messes up weight tracking.

BTW I'd be OK ditching golf, yoga, etc. tracking profiles.

I'm not posititve, but I think since the Surge monitors your heartrate it will recognize your increased calorie burn through increased heartrate due to your ruck weight.

That is a very good observation and you're right, heart rate is a
significant component of the caloric burn calculation. I was also hoping
to get some from vertical ascents that the barometric pressure sensor
measures, since I have increased my overall weight by 25% that's a chunk
when you do 10 floors.

Again, I'm not sure of the algorithms Fitbit uses to calculate all this stuff - but it will track the "flights" climbed even when in hike mode and I am pretty sure that it will incorporate that into the calorie burn.

I sure get your wish to have an exercise that is named and specifically matched to what you're doing but I'm fairly confident that the Surge is tracking fairly well with what your doing even being in "hike" mode.

I think I saw somewhere that a "flight" is roughly equivalent to 10 feet of elevation gain. I use my Surge for hiking alot and I can tell you that my calorie burn is significantly more when hiking in the mountains as opposed to hiking in the flatland - which I have to attribute to the surge tracking the increased HR of elevation gain.
