So I've had a Fitbit surge for a couple days. My resting HR is about 77. I know my HR is a little above normal. Doctors have commented on it.
Anyway long story short, I had a fairly normal day yesterday. Went to work, walked about 6 miles. Had a 40 minute weight lifting session. Skipped cardio. Often during my normal duties at work my HR was being shown in the low 100s and therefore in the fat burn zone.
The net effect is fitbit shows me burning off almost 5000 calories that day. There is no way I burn 5000 calories on the daily. If I did I could eat whatever I wanted and not gain weight. I'm here to tell you that is not the case lol.
Can i adjust the HR for the fat burn zone to get a more accurate calorie count?

Yep under settings for your device you can change your heart rate zones, setting a max heart rate and an upper and lower limit for zones.
I thought normal heart rate was between 60 and 80? Everyone is different and as you probably know cardio will likely push RHR down...
Plus like most fitness devices Surge will estimate what you burn resting (your BMR) based on your weight I think, so in the morning you will see a burn from just sleeping.
5K does sound crazy high. on a really high cardio, busy day I can peak at 4K but I am exhausted and I will suffer the next day.

Nice to see you in the Forums @JeremyC6! Nice to see that you really enjoy working out. Let's check how your Fitbit is counting your calories since you need to see if 5000 calories were right for that day, I think the same I'd like to eat whatever I want and not gain weight too, it'd be ideal, right?
Have you notice that your tracker is always showing a couple of calories burned when you wake up? This is because as @dogenzenji mentioned, your Fitbit Account takes your BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate) information taken from your profile information to calculate the amount of calories that your body burns when you're not in motion. Once you start tracking steps your Fitbit will add calories burned from your workout routines.
Heart Rate information is taking in consideration as well to give you a better reading for your calories but it changes from zone to another automatically. There's no way to change it since it will take your previous HR readings to adjust which is the correct Fat Burn Zone for you.
Why don't you try the Food Plan option, it will give you the option to have a successful way to know exactly the amount of calories you eat and burn. Take a look of this master post form @SebringDon.
Give it a shot and let me know if that works!
