I finally got my first Fitbit yesterday. I ordered a Surge from ebay. It is used but like new. I took it with me to the gym and compared heart rate and calories burned to the treadmill's measurements. The Surge was amazingly accurate on both counts. I am getting ready to take it with me soon for my upper body workout day. I will be doing cardio again today so I will be testing it again on a different machine. I love the style of the watch and it has a lot of functionality. The backlight is not the strongest and there aren't many clock faces available but the flare face is so awesome I won't need another face. As for the backlight it is enough to not hurt the eyes and unless you're in a cave the numbers are so reflective as to be easy to see even in dim light. Great product in my opinion.

Thank you Wendy. Just wanted to add that I used a different treadmill today and the Surge was right on in both heart rate and calories burned. Awesome stuff!

Well I am sorry to say that even though I never exposed the tracker to water I noticed a condensation spot briefly tonight. I didn't think much of it at the time but now I have a blank screen and when I go to reset it I get a black line with a circle in it and then back to a blank screen. I know I sweat a ton when working out but I would have expected the watch to be ok with that. I am leaving the watch in dry rice overnight just in case there is a slight chance it will work again but I am not too excited about my chances. It's a shame because it was a relatively new watch I assume since I only saw data on it back to January. I personally only had this tracker a few days.

Keep an eye on how the condensation spreads around the screen. If it get into the circuit below, other problems may occur. If multiple issues start to happen, then start looking for a replacement or alternatives.
There is a design fault in the Surge in that the pin hole used for the altimeter also allows water to seep into the device. It's not really water resistant as Fitbit claims to be.

I have been reading about that. Fortunately I may have figured out a way to fix it. If it works I will be sealing it with silicone. It may take out the altimeter but I will have the watch longer than three days.
