Hey @hriker it's nice to see new members around the Community! hmmm to be honest with you, no, I haven't heard that the Fitbit Surge went through something like this before, due to the heat, but it is great it was fixed.let me ask you something, did your Surge or your wife's Surge get a condensation on the screen? 'cause I've seen something like it before due to the weather, but not that it freezes up.
Have a great day!

HeydyFitbit:
Thank you for your reply to post about my Fitbit Surge freezing in the heat. Regarding your question, neither Surge had an condensation on them and they were not used in an exercise activity that day so was no excessive sweat on devices day.
Thanks,

I have similar issue, I live in Texas and when it gets really hot - in middle of the day when I'm outside biking or walking, my Surge seems to overheat. Shows an exclamation mark and shuts down. Later when it cools off, and I restart the device, it starts up. When it comes back, the time is back to what it was went watch went "off the grid."

Hi @hriker! Ok I see. Well then could be just because of the weather that the screen of your tracker froze. So if that happens again, you can try to update it by following these instructions.
The same to you @BBIEPRNCSS could be due to the weather, so if this happens often, then I suggest you to contact Fitbit Support, they will help you out with this.
Let me know the outcome!

Thank you - yes I believe it is due to the heat, and the summer hasn't started yet! It does happen when I exercise in the middle of the day and yes it does happen regularly. I get the triangle with exclamation mark, and when the watch cools off it comes back again. I'm not really surprised as some of other devices - phones etc also shut down during the heat from time to time.

Exactly @BBIEPRNCSS! definetely there is something wrong with your tracker, 'cause should be working even under those weather conditions. As I mentioned, Fitbit Support can help you out with this.
Have a great day!

Mine seems to be fine - all tracking as as before. By the way, I found a quick way to sync the time - just turn on one of the activities that seeks GPS - running, biking, hiking... and that syns your time when it finds GPS.

I'm having a problem with my Surge...I was cycling, the temperature was only 97F but the heat index around 110F...anyway, it was normal when I went to "start" my bicycle trip but the device "froze". I can't scroll through any screens. I CAN flip between exercise and time but those are the only two screens I can see. I tried pushing 2-buttons at the same time, but had no change in doing so. Is there a way to reset the whole device? Right now, it is TOTALLY useless.

I know it is very frustrating. I had been told that the device is design for this type of weather, but it is not. I'm glad that you were able to reboot it. I do not have the issue every time, but often enough. And the GPS is starting to act up too. Not sure if it is due to the heat.

Thank you very much for the update @AncientEagle. I'm happy to learn that everything is working again. Please note @BBIEPRNCSS and @SherryTo that this shouldn't happen. If you already tried to restart the Fitbit tracker without success, I would recommend to contact support.
Please let me know if there's anything else I can do for you 🙂 Have a wonderful day!
