Fitbit Surge Battery dead in 7 months

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

My sister in law bought a Fitbit Surge in around May 2017. I have always charged it using my laptop and only when 'battery down' signal appears on screen and have followed all instructions for charging. Despite that only after 7 months the battery is now only lasting for about a day and a half and whenever I go for a run the device just shut down frustratingly. This has just rendered the device useless for me. I bought the then costliest Fitbit device thinking that it would be the best however this experience is completely disappointing. Is there any solution that team Fitbit can provide

A warm welcome to the Fitbit Community @AparnaHinge! Hope you’re enjoying the forums! Sorry about the inconvenience you're having with your Surge.

I would suggest cleaning the charging contacts on the back of your tracker. These contacts can become obstructed by microscopic dirt or debris that prevents them from making a good connection to the charger. Use a toothpick or toothbrush to clean the charging contacts; do not scrape them with anything metal because this may damage the plating and result in corrosion. Robot wink

Then restart your Fitbit a couple of times and fully charge it. I recommend plugging your charging cable into a USB port on a computer or other low-energy device. If necessary, you can use a UL-certified USB wall charger. Don't use a USB hub or battery pack to charge, and only use the charging cable that came with your tracker.

In case that your still having issues with the battery of your Fitbit consider the tips on this post when you want to conserve battery life.

Keep me posted on the resolution! Cat Happy

Hi
Thanks for the reply.
However I have already tried this after reading on some other forums but
unfortunately for no good.
And importantly, on contrary to what you have mentioned at last of your
mail, i have a Fitbit surge and not a charge HR.

Awaiting your response with some satisfactory solution.

Thanks,
Aparna
