Fitbit Surge - Set up nightmares!

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Have received a Fitbit Surge today. From excited to ... ARGHHHHH!

5 hours later, still can't get past 'let's get started' screen. Have now sent a stropogram to Fitbit support in frustration.

Using Windows 10 laptop.

Have downloaded the software.

Have synch'd (apparently, from 'you sych'd xx mins ago message?).

Have connected via USB & wireless dongle - no joy either way, though can get the fitbit recognised when connected via usb.

Told I need to update tracker - keep trying -keep getting 'update in progess' bar, then 'update failed' & 'retry' button .... which just puts me in an endless loop!!

Have rebooted laptop about 1000 times as per forum suggestions.

Have reboted fitbit at least 4 million times (well, it feels like it anyway).

Have used the foul language approach - no joy.

Am now at the stage where I think I might have to accept defeat & give the **ahem**ed thing back befofre wasting any more of my life trying to get it set up. From the large number of people who seem to have the same problem, I'm very disappointed that Fitbit don't seem to have addressed what must be a genuine problem. I'm pretty savvy & assume most other gadget users are too. This is a POOR first impression.

Does anyone have any good pointers to a proper resolution?

Desperate!

When I first got windows 10 I tried syncing via Bluetooth, it never found the device so I downloaded fitbit connect chose my fitbit and it updated during setup. I now use the dashboard at fitbit.com and not the windows 10 app. If you have your fitbit bluetoothed to your phone the computer won't find it the fitbit can only Bluetooth to one device at a time. Hope this helps.
