Fitbit Surge can't find GPS in any exercise type

Hey guys,

I guess the title says it all! I can't seem to connect to GPRS anywhere in either home or London (whilst at work) and I don't know why!

I've tried the following:

  • Restarting unit
  • Checking for updates on the app and the dashboard

Any ideas for what could be causing this?

Thanks,

Luke

I'm not sure, whatever it needs when you choose run from the menu, then it does the searching and gives you the option to quick start (without connection)

GPRS is for phone communication

GSM, GPRS, Edge, H+, 2G, 3G, 4G, and so on.

Surge is not a phone

GPS is for localisation by satellites

GPS doesn't run well inside home or with buildings or trees around, it must "see" satellites

Hey guys,

Not inside, It's when I'm outside going for a run. Used to connect fine, now won't. Lame!

Welcome to the Community @CanOfCreamSoda! If you're still having issues with your GPS connection. I recommend restarting your Surge:

  1. Press and hold the Home and Select buttons (left and bottom right) on your Fitbit Surge for 10 to 15 seconds, until you see the screen flash or start to dim.
  2. Let go of the buttons.
  3. After your screen turns completely off, wait 10 seconds and press the Home button to turn your Surge back on.  Smiley Wink

Some times high buildings, several trees may impact your GPS connection. Since you mentioned that your Surge gets stuck on Quick Start, you may want to try to use MobileRun. To know more about this, take a look at this post

Good luck!

The other thing I would do is through the settings on the Surge, shut the Surge down. Now start it by pressing any button.
