Welcome to the Community @Jimbob79. First, I would verify one more time if the Surge is paired to your wife's Fitbit account, if it is, please follow the Setup Procedure it one more time. Also, check if the Surge doesn't appear on your phone's bluetooth. If it stills there, delete it.
