Got it today, already returning it

I was very excited to get the Fitbit Surge and it came today. Imagine my disappointment in finding that the display is so dim I can barely see it. After turning on the backlight in the Setting options (which did nothing) I find that I must return this $250 doorstop. One would think that for such an expensive device, a fundamental design feature such as being able to read the display and/ or adjust the brightness would be standard stuff. As compared to the other Fitbit products, which are quite bright and easy to read, this one is pathetic. Back to the engineering design folks.

I have printed out the return label already, and it's going back.

Maybe the Blaze will be better...

@denmar9 Welcome to the Fitbit Community! Did you performed a restart on the Surge? Well, the Fitbit Blaze includes a color touchscreen which is really cool and easy to see. I think you need something like that! Smiley Happy Feel free to review the Blaze features and general information.

Let me know if you get one!

Really, my display on my Surge is quite bright. Even in direct sunlight it is easy to read. In low light conditions I just tap on the screen and the display lights up bright and easy to read. Either the settings are incorrect or there is a defect in your tracker. The Surge I think is the best of all of the Fitbit products. It has the most to offer someone trying to get and stay fit! Good luck!

Welcome to the forums @denmar9

@SantiRis right, the display on the Blaze is much brighter than the Surge or ChargeHR. I can even see the display while wearing a long sleeved Champion sports shirt. I really like the ability to adjust the brightness level.

Give Blaze a chance!
