Heart rate not syncing history on surge

Hi all
Just bought a new Fitbit surge and am new to this. I left my phone at horn first he first time and synced when I got home and was surprised to see a gap in the heart rate history. Is this normal? Do you need the phone to ev constantly syncing to get history? Or should it simply show up after its synced as I would expect it to? If so is there a fix for this? Reason for buying the surge was I thought I could do monitorin without the other devices and only sync when needed. Thanks.

You're right in that the Surge should monitor you quite happily without your phone around and only needs it to sync.

I can only guess that it was unable to detect your heart rate for some of the time. This can be down to several things as explained in this article:

Basically, if you can see the heart rate on your Surge then it should be there on your dashboard after you sync. It's worth keeping an eye on it to see if you can spot when it's not picking up the heart rate.
