How do I get fitbit surge to get credit for bike ride

I have a Fitbit Surge. How do I get it to give credit for bike ride. I should get steps and active minutes. I rode for 2 hours, 16.9 miles. I set it as a bile ride and used the gps, it recorded the ride but fur the stats for the ride it only recorded 27 active minutes and my step count only increases by 1800 steps

Steps are not relevant to bike rides so if anything is counted at all it's only whatever road vibrations have made their way through to the tracker and looked like a step. On an ideal flat surface, youd see no steps at all.

Active minutes are a different matter but are only awarded for a level of activity above a set threshold so while you may have been 'active', you may not have been active enough to qualify for an 'active minute'.

Below is a snapshot of my typical ride home. Active minutes only relate to (I guess) having your heartrate up and being exertive. My take on it is that while I am riding and get to my speed it takes a lot less effort to maintain speed on a level flat surface. So my heart rate goes down. So coasting or just relaxed riding isn't going to show up as Active minutes. You can almost see when I have to stop for traffic or I had to work harder to get up a small incline.

That is just my take on it though. I only know from my experience. 🙂

It's great to see you around @Figment51 and @greagle@MikeF thanks for stopping by and the information provided.

If you want to have credit for your bike sessions, I recommend the SmartTrack feature, this feature will automatically register your exercise including biking and will log it automatically.

I hope this helps, let me know the outcome. Woman Happy
