How to set "Move Reminders" on Surge?

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Hi all 🙂

How do I set up a reminder to move every hour on a FitBit Surge? Have tried following instructions but to no avail.

Want to make sure I get up from my desk and move around.

TIA

I’m a week to using my Surge and same complaint. Wife’s new Fitbit has the reminder but my used but more expensive Surge doesn’t? How hard can it be to change some code? Gonna look at the China market if this can’t be updated.

We paid alot of money for this thing, and it advertised a range of features, which includes language that seemed to indicate reminders. I've already had one unit utterly fail in less than a year, and now see this complete lack of effort on Fit Bit's part to do anything to make good on a feature that cheaper models already come with? Unless you want some very ugly public backlash, and media attention to go with it, Fit Bit better clean up it's act and make this happen. Over a year and a half and no action at all? Stop pissing off your customers or you won't have any.

I'm not sure that's fair. The reminders to move was introduced as an add-on feature. Is it reasonable to expect this to be added to older models? Hoped for, sure but I don't see any obligation on fitbit's part. It is purchased for what it does, not for what it might be able to do.

I have stopped using the fitbit for same reasons my 3 watches failed 3.5 years.

I found a work-around. Gave my Surge away and bought a Samsung Gear3

Hi everybody! Thanks for your participation on the Forums. Thanks for your feedback, your comments are really important for us.

As @SteveH mentioned, we're always working to streamline our offerings as we introduce new products. Although it has been a very popular product for us, Fitbit Surge was released before this specific option was added to Fitbit features.

If you need help with your Fitbit Surge let me know so I can request a case for you with our Support Team.

Please note that we’ll continue to support Surge from a software standpoint, along with any questions you might have during your use of the product. We apologize for any inconvenience and hope we can continue to provide you with Fitbit devices you love and help you reach your goals. In case you're considering having another Fitbit product, you can learn more about Fitbit Ionic at https://www.fitbit.com/ionic, and the rest of the Fitbit family of products at https://www.fitbit.com/compare.

I also used this workaround.

I was a little disappointed too, but happy that you can still set the hours/amount if hours on the app and see the results there as well. I pick 15 min after the hour to get up and then I look at the amount of steps I have before I start the walk and add 250 so I will know what I need to reach.

Please explain why we should be patient. It would only be logical to assume that was a feature on a premier product when it is standard on your lesser products. Only after we have purchased and began using Surge do we discover that this function is unavailable. We have been ripped off - imho! I assume your goal is to get us to upgrade yet again to get this important feature. Well, guess what, if it isn't made available (soon) I will be upgrading to a different brand. You have too much competition to treat yoyr customers with such indifference. This could be as easy fix!

Sorry but you do not have my 'understanding'. Understanding come when someone listens to the needs of their customers and takes appropriate action to mitigate the problem for them. A simple program update could correct this shortcoming of the Surge at very little cost to the company. Fitbit's refusal to address this issue indicates either a disregard for their customer base, an obvious refusal to upgrade in hopes we will upgrade to further line the pockets of Fitbit, or both.

I don't even know what that last  response means . . . Does not appear to be relevant to my last post.

Hi @KLWReston! Thanks for your comment. About our last responses, Fitbit is always trying to provide options to our users offering new features, but Fitbit Surge was released before this specific option was added to Fitbit features. We don't have any information about updates to this model but I'll definitely will pass your feedback to our team. If you need more details about this, I can request a case for you and a representative from Fitbit will be reaching out to solve any other inquiry regarding this subject.

I am disappointed that the Surge does not have this feature.  Hoping that soon with one of the upgrades they are able to have this on this fitbit.  I had it on my Blaze and loved that feature.  It always reminded me to move which is very helpful especially at work.

Quite honestly after the $ I spent on the Surge,  if you expect me to buy another product to get the move feature I will not be buying a fit bit product.   There are plenty of options out there.

Surely your software coders should have this sorted by now.
