Sorry you've experienced problems with your Surge, @disaffected.  Since it has a 1-year warranty, it is now out of warranty and not elgible for warranty replacement.  It is good that you got 15 months service out of it.  If you re-consider, and decide to purchase another FitBit tracker, consider the Blaze which has replaceable bands.

Fitbit released the new Fitbit Alta & Blaze a while ago which have exchangeable bands. The Blaze has a more secure wristband like the Surge.

Not interested in replacement. Just new wrist band. This is not a one time incident. If you look on line this is a product defect and the company should provide a solution.

My suspicion is that this is a reply from the pr dept. of Fitbit

Unfortunately, the Surge has a design flaw.  The band is glued on the top of the band to the watch.  A very small strip of glue is used.  On the bottom where the screws are, there is no glue.  This usually where the watch fails.  Since the band is glued on, there is no way to replace it.

If you decide to get a fitness tracker from Fitbit or anyone for that matter, go to Best Buy, Amazon, Cost Co, etc.  Where for $20 or less you can get a two year extended warranty.

Only way to get any long term usage out of them.

Sorry man.  Good luck.

I've burned through 2 Charge HRs so far with wrist strap bubbling problems.  Luckily, it's the first year and they replaced the whole unit without a problem.  But @JohnRi, the extended warrenty is a brilliant idea.  I usually hate the idea of extended warenties, but i know that I'll get my money's worth from that!  Great idea!  Thanks for passing it along!

I agree with John - this is a risky investment!  Be careful.  There is a flaw with this product!

How can you design a watch where the strap is irreplaceable?

I have just been informed that (Since my strap pulled away from the body) I have to buy an entirely new watch.  I was quite happy to pay for the strap - I never expected to claim for it.  Sorry FitBit - this is unacceptable!

You have lost a customer who was previously a disciple for your product.  Not only will I never purchase any ofyour products again, I will actively disencourage anyone else from doing so either.

PS Sport peopl - you can't swim with this either, so Tri Athletes this is useless for you!
