Inaccuracies between Fitbit surge GPS and Fitbit phone app, Strave, etc..

When previously using Fitbit charge HR with my phone app, and concurrently running strava, always yielded the exact same results for distance. I now have the surge and finding its GPS registers ~1/10 of a mile per mile less than strava, indicating if I were running the Fitbit app instead of the surge GPS that it would likely be consistent. I'm not happy with this obviously, I want accurate readings. Does anyone know how to improve consistency and accuracy on the actual surge watch GPS?

Perhaps future SW updates can improve accuracy, but aside from the standard GPS advice (unobstructed view, full battery, etc) there are no settings to adjust, so nothing we can do to improve accuracy.

Do you think so? Do I call them and tell them that?

I'm figuring the iPhone GPS is simply more reliable, stronger, less likely to lose signal, whatever. Stava and the Fitbit app having always been consistent is because I was using the same GPS within my iPhone (duh to me). So I will hope new firmware will increase strength/accuracy. I run in the woods, so there are always trees, but again, iPhone always did fine. Thanks for your reply.

I've seen detailed Surge reviews and GPS struggled in woods with original firmware:

Thanks for that. I checked out that link and yes it's for older firmware, but he noticed a huge difference! While looking at that however, I notice he shows PC of elevation profile and a pace profile on his dashboard. I do not have that, has the surge changed since DC did that review?
