Is it possible to remove steps from daily totals?

Over the last few days, I have had trouble syncing my Surge to any of my Android and Windows 10 devices. During my troubleshooting, I connected my old Fitbit Ultra to see if the apps could at least see that.

Unfortunately, I had left the Ultra in my backpack and it had been recording steps -- I thought it was dead as I had not charged it for two months. The Ultra was detected by my app, and then the Surge was detected after I played with the all day sync setting. Now my data shows almost double the amount of steps for some days.

The app has added together the steps from the Surge and the Ultra for the last week or so. Is there a way to edit the step counts for the days that are affected? I want to remove the added steps from my daily totals.

Welcome to the Fitbit Community @Handles. It's great to have you here. I'm glad to hear that your Ultra is still working after so long. You should be able to negate steps from your account by following these instructions. Let me know how it goes.

Catch you later. Smiley Very Happy

Hi Edson, Thank you for your reply. Your solution sounds like it would be just what I am after. Unfortunately, none of the steps from the Ultra are actually showing up as logged activities, so I can't negate them as I am not sure when they appear. Only the correct activities are showing up from my Surge. In fact, I can't even see any of the steps from the Ultra added to my graph: the steps appear in the total that is reported, but my graph shows nothing out of the ordinary for every 5min interval throughout the day. It is quite confusing. I will note that the Ultra is still working and had been my main device since 2012. I only moved to the Surge a few months ago and that is how long the Ultra has gone without a charge. It's battery is still good! If only it wasn't, then I wouldn't have this problem 🙂 Funnily enough, I used to carry the Surge and Ultra at the same time while contemplating when to make the move to the Surge, and the steps never doubled up during that time. Unfortunately, my Surge is very difficult to sync now, and I can't resolve the issue. But I'll browse the forums to see what others are saying about that. Cheers.

@Handles In order to negate data it won't be necessary knowing if the steps were recorded by the Ultra or by the Surge. The system will remove from the daily total, the amount of steps you consider extra. You can remove steps from your account even if they are not showing up as logged activities. If necessary, you want to check out your daily average steps here.

Regarding the syncing issues, please follow these steps, this might help to get you back on track. Additionally, you can set up your Surge as a replacement device to resolve the problems to sync. Rest assured, your synced data won't get affected.

Keep up the super stepping. Cat Happy
