Did you mean:

Love my surge, just wish it lasted

I had a Fitbit charge HR when I received my Fitbit Surge as a gift.  I felt like I won the lottery!  I loved it very much!  Well, then the band started to split.  Called customer service to see if there were any authorized Fitbit repair men that I COULD PAY to have it fixed.  The response I received was we will give you a discount to buy a new one.  I was upset.  How could I be assured this wouldn't happen again?  Well, some time has passed and it has not completely separated.  Today, we went hiking and my screen would no longer swipe.  Under the glass is full of condensation.  I am wondering if anyone had put their surge in a bag of rice.  Did it help with condensation?  I am begining to think these things are built to implode so you have to purchase a new one....

I am wondering if perhaps I should spend a little more and get an apple...I don't like the style at all but I am sure it will be more durable, or if it does need to be repaired maybe it's easier to find someone to fix it.   I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH FITBIT

I actually had almost the exact same issue except my Surge got so hot it almost burnt my wrist, which then left a rash and it almost looked like the battery exploded or something because there was a white substance all over the back of the device. Now when I plug it in, only one of the green sensors comes on. My screen also looked like it had some sort of condensation and the screen also went totally pixelated. I got this for Christmas in 2015, so I am quite upset that it hasn't even lasted 2 years. I went back to my Fitbit Force and lucky me...that tracker isn't tracking steps. So I am at a loss because I just don't have the funds to throwing money at a device that has a lifespan of a year.

Based on your messages it seems that your Surge is considerable new. If its in warranty they have to give you a replacement as the band is splitting. As for condensation, Fitbit is supposed be with water resistant.

However if your Surge is out of warranty, you do not have much option then to buy a new one.

There are few new features which are integrated already available in Fitbit application but it is disabled for Surge owner. Please find details on https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Feature-Suggestions/Surge-update-is-highly-due/idi-p/2042199 and provided your precious vote.

@engineergirl Agree with you, as the price of Surge, I would expect it to be lasting for 3 years.

I am guessing it is out of warranty because I received it as a gift and i am sure the gifter bought it prior to December to 2015. Plus I don't have the receipt. I just don't have the money for a new one. Oh well, if this many people (from the multiple discussion boards I have seen) have had this many problems with their devices, then I think there is a bigger problem overall...nothing that any of us can fix.

EXACTLY!  My Fitbit was a gift, I have had it less than a year.  The problem is it was purchased over a year ago.  I wouldn't be upset if I could take it somewhere and have it fixed, but I have yet to find someone who fixes them.  For the price it should not self destruct at all let alone have a cracking band, condensation under the face, and a screen that no longer swipes...ugh!
