Marathon battery question?

Hi.

Can I ask if anyone has used their Surge to track their marathon (or longer) run with GPS? If so, how did the battery last?

I'm running my first marathon in April and think I'll take about 4 hours 45, so want to check my battery will last. Based on my experience with runs of 3 hours, I'm not sure it will.

Thanks, William

I took a three hour walk with GPS two weeks ago, before i took off i Synced and received the low battery notification about the Surge. 3 hours later the Surge was still correctly recornding my path.

I haven't found the limit but have gone 8 hours with GPS, and still have power left.

Thanks Rich and Nicola for the replies, these have given me confidence that my Surge will last the full race. I'll be switching off notifications and leaving GPS and Heart Rate on.

Thanks again! 🙂

Run the SF marathon, started at ~100% and finished after 3:45h with about 25%.

The surge had 8 months back then and it has been used basically every day intensively since i got it.

Played around with the surge alot during the race (keep swiping to check heartrate, steps, etc).

GPS and heartrate tracker was on.

Good luck with yourt first Marathon, really exciting experience.

Nicola

Hello @will1971!  Just to amplify a bit @Rich_Laue and @nicolabortignon's response. According to Surge manual, your fully charged Surge can track a maximum of about 10 hours of activities that use GPS before needing a charge. To ensure that you're always tracking your data, we recommend charging your Surge after any activity that uses GPS.

Hope this helps.
