My fitbit surge shows my heart rate as 160+ but my app on the phone differs

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Why is this.

I have just been to the gym, and spent about 30 minutes in my peak zone, much of this at hearbeat 160 - 167 according to my fitbit surge watch.

I have just updated my fitbit phone app, and the max heartrate here is 153.

This is not the first time I experience this.

Why oh why?

Greetings @mereterosenberg! Please keep in mind that if you're using the Android app, you'll only see live heart rate data if you have call, text, or calendar notifications enabled. Now, make sure Bluetooth is enabled on your mobile device. In the Fitbit apps for iOS and Windows, also make sure all-day sync is turned on. Hope this helps!

Feel free to post back. 🙂

The heartrate tracker on the surge is nothing like accurate except for a general guide for all day heartrate tracking.
Many reviews have slated it's performance

Many thanks for trying to help. I accept that the surge is not accurate. That is not the problem that I am talking about.

The problem is that when I am sitting on the exercise bike in the gym, my surge shows 165 - 167. When I sync with the computer or my phone, the heartrate during the same period of time only reaches for instance 155.

So the problem is, that the watch shows one number but the app on the phone shows another number.

@mereterosenberg thanks for getting back to me! Sorry for the confusion when you're exercising your tracker will take a 5 minutes interval and give you an average. If you'd like to double check your Surge's accuracy for RHR check out this post with tips on how to check it. It's a Charge HR thread but it also applies for your Surge. However, you might want to verify that your Heart Rate is being properly recorded and a minute by minute tracking from your We Dashboard by going to your Activity's Detail and checking out your exercise Heart Rate. Hope this helps! Keep me posted. Cat Very Happy

@SunsetRunner thanks for joining the conversation. If you have issues with your Surge's HR accuracy, please take a look at this post. Also, try restarting your tracker by doing the following:

  1. Press and hold the Home and Select buttons (left and bottom right) on your Fitbit Surge for 10 to 15 seconds, until you see the screen flash or start to dim.
  2. Let go of the buttons.
  3. After your screen turns completely off, wait 10 seconds and press the Home button to turn your Surge back on.

Catch you later!
