Hi all,
This's a true bug of Fitbit surge, often when I'm driving, surge increase the step counter as when I run.

This is totally unacceptable , I would like to know if any of you have encountered in this problem.

Bye

Hello @Poldo welcome to the Fitbit Community! It'sgreat to have you here 🙂 Our engineers have worked diligently on your tracker's algorithms to make sure that it does not pick up false steps or activity recordings while in a car. Unless you are driving in a car with a stiff transmission or on back country roads, your tracker should not give you credit for any work that you don't do.

You can negate the steps tracked by your Surge during driving, to do so:

  1. Go to your activity log
  2. Find the data you want to negate by selecting a date range.
  3. In the activity menu, type in "Driving" and enter the duration and start time.
  4. Click Log Activity. Your steps, floors, and calories burned will decrease for the time period you specified.

Also you can use Drivebit, a great app that will help you when driving. For more information about Drivebit click here

Thanks for stopping by! 🙂

It may be unacceptable to you but the reality is that a step tracker on your wrist will count any vibration that looks like a step regardless of the source. The Surge has no way of knowing whether your walking or driving so if it sees something that looks like a step, it will be counted. Given that your arm will move in response to any bump in the road it shouldn't be a surprise that some of them get counted.
