Hello @Emily92 and welcome aboard to the Fitbit Community. It very rare that the information gets deleted by unknown reasons. The most common reason when this happen is a delay in loading your information; as you know your data is not store on your device but in Fitbit servers and sometimes it take a while to load the information. The other cause of this its an error in the internal software of the tracker, if this is the cause I recommend a restart but only if the issue persist.
If this is your case please try the following:
1. Press and hold the Home and Select buttons (left and bottom right) for 10 to 15 seconds, until you see the screen flash or start to dim.
2. Let go of the buttons.
3. After your screen turns completely off, wait 10 seconds and press the Home button to turn your Surge back on.
Hope it helps and keep me posted how it goes.
