Not the best - but a solution to a new Surge not connecting

Fitbit, very nicely sent me a replacement Surge after my wrist band was disintegrating. Sadly, it would not charge (so it appeared), would not accept updates, would not move beyond the original configuration setup screen.

This was on a Window 10 machine. I had turned on, turned off, reset, used different USB ports and different cell phone wall warts to "charge" it. It registered on the app, it conducted a synch, but would not update because it needed a charge.

A couple of other folks mentioned using their cell phone to do the configuration, or an older laptop that used the Fitbit Connect app. Tried the cell phone and it did not work. Hooked in to an older Win 8.1 laptop with Fitbit Connect, and everything was golden. Synched, updated, downloaded, everything as it should be.

Bottom line, don't try to connect (initially) through a Win 10 machine - 'cuz it won't work.

Try downloading fitbit connect not the windows 10 app and see if that helps.

You can use a windows 10 machine, just make sure you download the PC version of Connect instead of Windows 10 version.

This solved my problem on the Win 10 machine I use.
