Only part of run was recorded...how do I correct this?

Was so excited to try this out the other night but seemed like my time and distance were not measuring up.  Did a sync just now to reveal that a portion of my route was not mapped.  Looks like this may have happened on my quick jog tonight too, but cannot see a map for that one yet.  Maybe the GPS just isn't picking everything up?  How can a correct this error?  Can I manually adjust the route for that day?  If so, how would I do it and also would my average mile time adjust as well?  Totally new to fitbit so please bear with me!

Welcome to the Fitbit Community forums @rundowncancer! Congratulations on your new start with your Surge; not to worry, we were all newbies at some point in our lives. Smiley Wink

Quick question, are you running with a Mobile device at hand? If you are; we'll need to check for the following things to be active:

1. Make sure that you have cell data turn on if you are out of Wi-Fi range.

2. Turn on Background App Refresh by: opening your iOS settings > tap general > tap Background App Refresh > Find the Fitbit App and make sure it is turned on.

3. Lastly, make sure that you have Location Services enabled for the Fitbit App. This can be done by: opening your iOS settings > tap Privacy > Tap Location Services and make sure the Fitbit App is either set to "While Using the App" or "Always".

Please keep in mind that GPS does present a natural innacuracy; this is why we recommend to change the position of your Mobile Device's antenna. There are plenty of members who recommend to store the phone in an outside pocket of a backpack or jacket pocket or the back pocket on a cycling jersey. If you see your tracked distance through GPS through a path you did not walk through it happens sometimes  when the GPS did not get a correct measurement from one or more satellites.  Also, "stuff" blocking the signal interferes with accuracy.  Are the buildings really close together?  Are there lots of trees in your neighborhood? This affects the readings of your GPS-based run.

Let me know if you have any questions, have a great day! Smiley Very Happy
