Product Roadmap for Surge?

I have been using a Fitbit Ultra for many years for step counting, and a Garmin ForeRunner 620 for tracking my runs.  I have been awaiting the one device to rule them all for some time now.  I want a step counter that tracks me during the day, along with a GPS-enabled running watch for my morning runs.  From what I have been reading in the forums here, and in external reviews, the Surge just has too many problems, especially with the wristband.  Therefore, I'm not willing to sink the $$ into a problematic device that is surely nearing the end of its product life.  I would have snatched up a Charge 2, but alas no GPS (and I do not want to carry around my heavy smartphone on a run just for the GPS connection). Given FitBit's recent product upgrades (Charge 2, Flex 2, Alta, Blaze), it would seem that the Surge is due/overdue for a replacement device?  Does anyone have any information about the product future for the Surge?  Release date? Features? etc...?

I have the surge and I echo your comments in that I want to be able to have interval training capabilities and notification with the gps for my free runs. It's frustrating as it seems like a logical pairing.
