Replacement/refund following surge burns

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.
I have had a problem where the surge causes a burn like rash, after following care instructions contacted fitbit via email. Fitbit initially offered me a refund saying they would send a FedEx envelope for me to return the device, however now they realise I am in the UK they have asked me to send a photo of the device destroyed (straps cut) and my bank account details for a refund. All this seems a bit suspect to me as I don't like to give out bank account details. Anyone else had this? Any moderators on here that can confirm if this is the right thing to do? I contacted fitbit via the contact link on the website.

Hi Naomigf88

Did Fitbit's request to cut the straps, take a picture with number provided and to provide your bank account details for reimbursement turn out to be all good and legitimate? Or was it a scam?

Hi!
Turned out to be the right thing to do. Got my refund eventually - took
about 8 weeks in total!

Thanks Naomigf88 for confirming this 🙂 Fitbit have asked me to do practically the same thing as you described and like you, I thought that this is bit out of the ordinary; not 100% comfortable wih giving bank details and was quite suspect as to why in this day and age it would take weeks for the funds to hit my account. I guess that's my financial banking ignorance. Thanks again for your reply, you've helped me a lot to feel more comfortable about proceeding with their instructions. Have a great weekend. 🙂

I have been asked to do the same thing. I am in NZ and I feel really uncomfortable about doing this

Hi there, I have had to resend my account details and name. They might be a scam as they have said they have put the money into my account but gave me a receipt that had the incorrect name and account details on it. They are not taking responsibility for their refund mistake. I am very weary that they have my

details now.

It's a really odd thing to be asked to do isn't it?! But I did get my money
refunded straight into my bank account as promised. I think you are the
third person to comment saying you have been asked to do this.

It took about six weeks for my money to come through I think but I did get
it eventually. Really they need to think of a better way of dealing with
this situation !!

Did you guys get asked your bank, bank location, account number,

branch number and international banking number? I have also been told it's the legitimate thing to do, but it feels so dodgy! Now on top of it they have told me they have changed the refund process and they need me to confirm my birth date, which I am not going to do! It seems like such a scam?
