OK, I cannot vouch for the after market bands, but I took the new clean working band off one of my dead Surges which I have kept in a drawer...by unscrewing the screws and twiddling with the bands which came off eventually (I had to use quite a bit of force). I also removed the bands from the current Surge where the band had bubbled up and looked a mess. A thin piece of plastic is stuck to the inside of one of the bands... this is the bluetooth antenna, I (very) carefully removed this with a knife.
I then placed the antenna back on the watch (check out online videos for orientation), added a few dabs of superglue to the top surfaces, fitted the good band which snapped into place and screwed the tiny torque screws back in. Voila, a working Surge with a good band that looks like new, took about twenty minutes.
Just saying it can be done. A definite solution if you do not want to buy a new Surge after your warranty is up, and of course assuming only your band is knackered...
