Step counter differences

My Surge step counter shows me matching and going above my target. But the dashboard counter on the iPhone, iPad and laptop all show the same - but significantly lower - step count. Until a few days back they were all in sync but now for three or four days consistently diff. Can't work out what's happening.

It's nice to see you around @Andras1, hope you're doing great today! By any chance, are you syncing frequently? Are you using MobileRun or any other app to track your data? Only Fitbit Surge includes built-in GPS. Fitbit Blaze can provide GPS data but only in conjunction with the sensors on your nearby mobile device. For both trackers, turning on multisport mode gives you the option to select a GPS exercise.

If you wear your tracker while using MobileRun, the steps, active minutes, and calories burned that you see on your Fitbit dashboard come from the tracker. Otherwise your phone is used to calculate this data. During the workout you can view your elapsed distance, time, and average pace as well as use the music controls in the Fitbit app.

Also, have you manually logged any activities? Typically, your steps will be recalculated if you manually log an activity as the manually logged activity takes precedence over the steps you tracked while wearing your tracker at that point in time. For example, if I am wearing my Surge and walking and I reach 10,000 steps, then I go to the computer and manually log an activity that starts and ends at that point in time for say 1 hour, Fitbit will calculate how many steps you took and it may bring my step count to something below 10,000 steps. To clarify, activities should only be manually logged when you forget to wear your Surge. Hope this helps!

Thanks - that was all too complicated for me.

BUT happy to report that before this message out of frustration pushed lotsa buttons and now we are back on track and working wonderfully.

Thanks to the Fitbit factor and its tracking of steps and weight I have found the incentive to walk and diet and lose the weight the doctor says I must.

Averaging 0.5 kilo loss and since start of year taken about 14 kilos off. Still got to lose another 6 kilos ---but I know now it is achievable.

Had u asked me at start of the year I would have thought what doc wanted was a joke and would take years!!!!!

Music to my ears @Andras1 Smiley Very Happy, I'm very glad to hear that you're back in business!

Amazing job what you've done so far, 14 kilos off? Wow, I've lost just 2 hahaha Woman Sad. You're missing 6 kilos which I know is nothing for you now, I'm pretty sure you'll loose more than that.
