Strap worn by cotton shirt

After just 6 months of use my surge strap has worn enough for the plastic of the watch to show through the rubber. This part of the strap has only had contact with cotton shirts. Poor quality and Fitbit Customer Service won't replace it. I thought the watch was supposed to be designed to be worn 24/7. Not great if it cannot withstand cotton and how can you avoid contact with anything else?!

Anybody else had this and got the watch replaced?

I love the surge but poor customer service/warranty means I will probably look elsewhere for a new smart watch.
