*Surge 2 imminent? Surge cheaper than Blaze in UK *

So today I had to superglue the strap around the screws back together again and squirt adhesive internally where the strap was lifting where it joins the watch case. Second Surge (first kindly replaced by Fitbit) with only weeks to live...

It appears outside warranty Fitbit will offer a 25% discount on a new one. Actually thats not such a good deal anymore as they are available on the High St in the UK for around £157.99 (Currys for one, John Lewis no longer seem to sell it) so Fitbits discount from £200 isn't really all that. The Blaze is

£159.99.

Have Fitbit dropped the price to retailers? I wonder if this is an indication that the new one is just round the corner?

I need to know asap as I really don't want move to the new Garmin...I actually do like the Fitbit app, platform and general approach...its just their kit doesn't last !!

Hi there @Chris1963, glad to see you again. Well to be honest with you, as far as I know, Fitbit haven't dropped the prices due to new trackers or any other reason. At the moment we don't have news about the release of new products, beside the Alta or the Fitbit Blaze which are the most recent trackers.

Additionally to this, the prices from retailers are independent from our store prices or any other partnership that could exist with different stores. These offers are not influenced by Fitbit and may vary depending of the store or the season as I have noticed with other stores.

I can understand your point about the discount because I think Warranty policies can narrow many possibilities sometimes. Beside that principle, I understand as well why warranty policies are needed. Our customer support team strive to keep every single Fitbit customer on track and as part of that position They will motivate the search for alternatives to reinforce a healthy lifestyle. Is at this moment when such gestures of good will like discounts come in to play when the warranty expire.

Hope this information helps and see you around.

Hi Roberto,

Thanks for your reply...I'm going to hang on as long as I can, superglue is holding quite well.

Can you confirm whether the warranty in the UK and Europe is 1 year or 2 ? There is a directive from the European Parliament of 2 years, but I'm not sure if it is law or not. Could you check with your team?

Hopefully a new one is coming, Fitbit must know of this problem whether they officially admit it or not..

Thanks

How about now?

This issue has been a very well documented and long standing concern for Fitbit and users. I personally have the charge HR and as I have increased my time out running I have been looking for an upgrade with built-in GPS so that I no longer have to take my phone out running with me. The delay for me has been that I wanted a surge but wouldn't touch the current model as most owners state that their lifespan averages 2-3 months, yet I still like the Fitbit software.... I haven't tried Garmin or TomTom or the upcoming new balance to compare yet so wanted o stick with what I know. I don't care if it isn't as snazzy or up-to-date as an Apple watch etc as long as it is built to last.

2 years on there is no answer for Fitbit, but there is from competition, they all have more modern devices with the ability to swim in them plus GPS plus various smart watch functions.

I have been patient and happy with what I have, for some time now I have wanted more and waited for it....Is there any light at the end of the tunnel for a new Surge strap (updated design and full waterproofing would be a bonus but not necessary) or should I step into the unknown with a different manufacturer that I have no experience of?
