Surge Calorie burn vs. spin bike computer calculated burn?

Anyone have intel on which is more accurate?   I have a new Keiser M3i spin bike that seems to have good tech.  The Calorie burn from it is indicating higher (approx. 20-25%) than my surge.   I'm thinking the bike would know exactly how much energy it would take for the given resistance and distance whereas Surge algorithm may be a SWAG.   Thoughts?

Hi, @Swishhh, my thoughts are that if you feel you are getting an accurate HR reading from your Surge it will be the more accurate.

 

Heart rate elevation is a good indication of calories burned over BMR (basal metabolic rate).  In this case your Fitbit probably knows better than your bike, because it knows about YOU.

@Swishhh the science for cycling shows that power data is most accurate estimate of calorie burn. Your Keiser bike calculates the total power/energy you generated while riding, so it will be more accurate than your Surge.
