Hey @Sticklaar, thanks for getting back and for trying those steps.
About the issue with Strava you can try these steps, and if this doesn't help I would consider contacting Strava Support directly; take a look of the Resources for the Strava App. Remember that you need to confirm that your tracker is properly syncing the activity to assure it will appear on Strava.
Now to answer to your inquiry, only GPS recorded activities from Fitbit will sync to Strava, so it might be related to the issues with google play store; but we need to work on getting your GPS activities to see if this gets solve once the activities are fully transfer to your Dashboard.
What type of device you're using to sync? Do you have another option?
I'll be around.

Nice to see that you're digging into the Forums @Sticklaar, let me give you a warm Welcome to our Community.
Thanks for posting your inquiry here and for asking help from our support team. As they mentioned, our team is aware of the issues that Strava is having with Fitbit; and is working hard to resolve this as soon as possible. Sorry for the inconvenience.
Now about the maps tracked by your Surge, please check this tips and restart your Surge so you can give it a try again. Also take in count that if your using your Surge GPS, you need to see if it is connecting properly. If the GPS signal is lost, rest assured that your Fitbit tracker or phone continually will search for a GPS signal as long as the exercise is in progress. You might have to take in count that the environment you are in can affect the signal strength of GPS.
For example, if you are running in an urban environment with many tall buildings (as you already know), it may take your Surge tracker several seconds to get a fix. For best results, wait for your Fitbit to find the signal before you start your workout.
I hope this helps.

its not the gps signal. I deleted then reinstalled and updated google play services and that seemed to fix the problem for about 2 hours. Now its back to being broke again.
the run is logged but when you click on the exercise the map of the route no longer shows, just an error message 'google play services is updating'. it's not the gps signal as when deleted and reinstalled google play i could see the map and everything was fixed for a brief period of time
I cant sync to strava anymore either, my fitbit runs are not automatically appearing on strava. Does this have anything to do with the issue above?
