Surge GPS not accurate

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I have ran 2 10K races in the last few months plus many 5K's and every time the distance shown on the surge is longer then the race - Example 1st 10K surge showed 6.44 miles and the second one showed 6.36 miles.  I realize they are not off by a lot but it is hard to keep an accurate pace. I just received a replacment Surge and it still is not accurate when compared to my phone.

a Samsung Galaxy S2 is less accurate than a S3, because the chipset is different.

Can be the same between the Surge and your phone.

GPS signal is moreless 10 m.

So, considering the chipset, the GPS precision, the time sampling (5 sec, 10 sec, etc), these differences are normal.

on 10 K, the difference between your 2 races is 120 m, around 1%

Maybe your Surge is accurate, but your phone ?

I have an I-Phone 6 and I also compared it to race timers and distance so I'm betting on the Surge as being the issue.

1% accuracy is normal.

i have the same amount between my Surge, a Samsung Galaxy S3 and an iPhone 6s

the Surge records the position every second when using GPS.

the Surge GPS chipset accuracy is 3 meters, according the datasheet
