Surge HR floor count is wildly inaccurate

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I have noticed that in the past few weeks the floor count is wildly high. For example, on my morning walk today the elevation change is about 70 ft. The Surge hows that I have climbed 165 floors. The dashboard shows I climbed 14,000 floors in the past few weeks!  Any one know how to correct this problem or has my Surge really screwed up permamently?

It will add floors when it is windy or cold.

If you enter "driving" as an activity during the times it happened, it will remove it for you.

Also a restart might help it from happening again

Sorry for the long delay. I reset the surge HR at least 3 times with no
improvement. Yesterday I wrapped the Surge in saran Wrap & went on my
morning one mile walk with our dog. The Surge floor count was 2, maybe 1
floor short for the elevation change. Today I did the same walk with the
saran Wrap off & about a 7 to 10 mph breeze. 38 floors!

The wrist strap is coming off in the area of the display. Maybe this has
something to do with it. In any event it is really no good for long term
outdoor use. You cannot blame the problem on overuse since I am 80 years
old & am now a walker instead of a runner.

I am going to start looking around for something more reliable.

Thank you for the recommendations @WendyB that could help in most cases.

The fact that the wristband is coming off could be a factor. You could also clean the tracker's altimeter (the small device that measures the altitude). That could be obstructed with microscopic dirt that prevents an accurate tracking. You can use hand sanitizer and a tissue or moist a cotton swab with isopropyl alcohol and carefully clean the small hole on one side of the tracker, opposite side to the butto. Do not use detergent, abrasives or submerge your tracker in water. Dry it completely and check how it goes after tomorrow. In case it won't improve the tracking don't improve, contact support to check your warranty for a replacement under warranty as the bracelet is damaged.
