Surge battery dead. I'm giving up and switching to Apple

Well my surge battery won't take a charge.   Apparently, a common problem.    After spending over an hour on chat with sales and support they alledgedly offered me a 25% discount on a new one.   Alas, it's 25% off some inflated list price.   It's only about $3 less than the current price on the fitbit site and almost $30 more than Amazon offers right now.

Being on our third fitbit watch (and an Aria scale to boot), you think they'd provide some consideration.

Didn't ask to be special.   But when they say they are doing me a favor by offering to replace it at a discount, they really should offer a discount rather than inventing an inflated price to discount which ends up being more expensive than just buying it elsewhere.

  • Note 1 batteries are only good for so many charges. Letting a battery go below 30% or above 80% is not good for battery.
  • The ionic is no longer sold
  • The cost to repair is a lot more than the ionic is worth.
  • Yes unlike some companies, Fitbit doesn't offer repair. There or some independent companies that do.
  • In stead of like others who charge 60 - 120% to fix the tracker. Fitbit has decided to simply offer a discount
  • Giving a discount gets the user a brand new device, rather than a repaired device.

Im not sure what is meant by an inflated device. Fitbit sells, like most manufacturers, their units at the manufacturer suggested device. They can not legally tell a store what to charge. The store may or may not choose to seek at the suggested price.

A user may choose to purchase the lower priced option. This is not a decision that Fitbit may force on a user.

Saying that a device may be found cheaper from a third independent party simply proves that, as it should be, Fitbit has no control of what the store may choose to price at.

The store could have easily priced it higher.
