I got a surge today attempted to charge it but the charger kept slipping out as soon as I let go of it any ideas??

It does fit in a certain way. If its not fitting turn it around please

Adding to the information that @WendyB gave you. If you check this picture you will notice that the charger has an specific shape that fits with the entry on the back of your Surge. If you're able to plug it in but it is too loose, it's best to contact Customer Support so they can assist you with that! Smiley Indifferent
