Surge counting steps while charging overnight

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Hello,

My Surge started to count step while being charged overnight, and is continuing to count when not in movement. Any chance you could help me fix it please?

Thank you,

RunnerGirl11😊

Welcome to the forums!

Try a restart. Do it at least 3 times.

Same happened to my Surge. I woke up on day to see that it counted 21 000 or so steps while sitting on my side table. It was the first and last time that it happened. Very odd.

Hey, hey, @ZSolar! Thanks for sharing your experience with us. It is indeed very odd that your tracker recorded this steps while you were not using it.

I have a question, was there some type of vibration or movement near the side table? Like air conditioner, or a heater?

However, I'm glad to hear that this just happened once, let me know if it happens again. Heart

See you around. :}

Hi Solange,

There was a desk fan running through the night on my side table, it was causing very slight vibrations come to think about it. It may be what caused the incorrect step count, but that would mean that the Fitbit has an ultra sensitive step counter.

Hey, hey, @ZSolar! Thanks for the updates. Oh, so that was causing the step count. Yes, the sensor of movement on your tracker is sensible, specially for this type of vibrations.

Let me know if you have more questions. 🙂

My Surge started doing the same thing two nights ago.

Yesterday I had done 29,000 steps before I even woke up, and today I had 18,000 steps and had travelled 12.9km!

I have tried to reset the unit at least five times. Nothing.

I do not wear it to bed.

There is no vibration where I charge my tracker overnight so it could not possibly be due to this.

Unless Fitbit can now track your steps from your dreams, I think mine is faulty.

How can I reset the entire thing back to ZERO factory settings and start again?

@Shamers1970Did you read the above messages?

Is there a fan or Computer CPU near by that can cause a vibration?

As it will add false steps
