Surge doesn't connect for exactly one mile

I've been having this problem for a couple months now and it has been VERY consistent. When I start the gps for my runs, it continues searching and does not connect until I am exactly 1 mile away from my starting point. I have tested to make sure this is the case in many different, measured locations, even in cities that are 300 miles apart. I also have suspicions of the distance tracking not being accurate since it occasionally and suddenly locks onto a 10'20" pace, when there is no way my pace is anywhere above an 8'30", no matter how much I speed up or slow down.

I find it best to wait for the Surge to tell me it has found a GPS lock.. As long as it is not cloudy, it only takes sbout 30 seconds.

Right, I have left it searching just to test it, it will not connect until I am 1 mile away from where I was.
