Hope this helps...I got my Surge working!
I spent most of yesterday trying to get my Surge up and running. Wouldn’t work on my iPhone SE or iPad. Got the same message as yours on my Surge screen and ‘fbbluetootherrordomain 8’ on the Fitbit app, whilst trying to do new update on Surge.
It’s now working - Try connecting it to a PC (download Fitbit app) with windows 10. It took about 10 mins to update and sync the Surge. Funnily enough, it now syncs with my iPhone after setting it up with the PC.
