Surge giving way more calories than Flex

I recently switched from a Flex to a Surge and am getting way more calories in MyFitnessPal for the same activity. I was confident in the Flex because I was eating to the target and my weight is steady. If I eat to the Surge's calculations, I would be gaining weight.  The Surge is giving me 500+ calories more per day, which I'm not eating.  According to the Surge, I should be losing 1 pound a week, but I'm not. My weight is steady.

How do I turn off the Surge or get it back to the Flex level of calories without un-linking Fitbit and MFP?

@zps, how do your steps compare? That's the only data Fitbit sends to MFP.
