Surge goes "dark" in sunlight

Within minutes of being exposed to direct sunlight my Surge face goes dark, all functions cease.  Sometimes I have to turn off/on to reset, sometimes logging into iPhone app will reset.  I can't rely on my Surge if I'm out in the sun.  Other than not wearing my Surge outdoors is there any solution to prevent this?

If the Surge is exposed to the sun on a warm day for too long it will shut down from the heat. I experienced that at a football game a couple of years ago. Once it cools it will come back on. There is no solution other than to shield it from the sun with a sleeve, wristband, etc.

Thank you. This going dark has become routine when I am outdoors, & seems to take only a few minutes for it to go dark. I love my Surge, but this is an aggravation.
