My Surge tracked my heart rate fine while cycling to begin with, now it stays or stops on 70 bpm and at the end of workout anly has less than 15 minute tracked on a two hour ride. I have now put the Surge on my ankle and it tracks fine. Anyone got suggestions as I would like to have it on my wrist as it should be.

Hi there @GordenP, let me give you a warm welcome to our Community. The first thing to try if is not recording correctly your activity is what @SunsetRunner recommended you, these links cover pretty much all the troubleshooting steps you need to follow. I think for this time I just need to ask you how it goes so far? Is the issue still persisting? Despite I've seen many users that have tried using the tracker on the ankle, I do not recommend to do this, as this was not designed to be worn like that so its possible that many of your stats are not accurate for other activities.
I'll be around, I just want to give follow up with you to see if everything was resolved.

I have the same problem with My Surge tracking my heart rate in the upper ranges. Nothing is more frustrating than trying to hold your heart rate about 150 while looking at a screen that only has two dashes showing verses your heart rate!
OBY! I’ve done all of the recommendations, worked with technical support and replaced my Surge. The new one has the exact same problem.
Fitbit really struggles to build a reliable device. I’ve owned about 6 different devices. I am pretty hard on equipment, simply because I use it more then most and I would not mind having to replace a device every couple of years if I could depend on it while it was working.
If Fitbit were not part of my companies health program, I would look for a higher quality device.
Frustrated!

If its any consolation I found that if I make the strap quite tight it reads my heartrate better (only room forone finger between hand and watch) its a bit uncomfortable so I have to loosten it after exercise. Agreed none of the solutions posted here help and when it time to upgrade / replace will be looking for a more reliable device.

Thanks Gorden, I've tried that too. It seems to work better if I put the sensor on the inside of my wrist and strap it down hard, but it will still have some intermittance. It's a huge distraction!

@cusackla & @GordenP thanks for joining us in this thread. Thanks for the feedback guys! Please note that several reasons influence on HR accurate readings. Take a look at this post for a more thorough explanation. I'd suggest a restart too:
If you still have any issues with it, then I recommend contacting our Support Team for further assistance. They definitely have the proper tools to take a deeper look into your replacement Surge's behavior.
On a different note, I'm happy to see users helping each other here! That's what the community is all about; sharing knowledge and helping one another. Keep it up guys!
If you have any other inquiry, let me know. I'll be around!
