Surge inaccuracy of tracker and app

My surge tracker and steps after syncing via the app are different. The app calculates it as less

Are you sure that a sync really happened @HannahDavies how long ago does the app say the last sync was .

The app normally does not calculate the steps but displays what the tracker counted .

If a manually added run/walk was added, or the app was used to record a walk/run then yes gf's app would calculate the steps. However after the next sync the step count on the ionic and app will be synced up and match .

Hi It's a surge not ionic 
The app says updated a moment ago straight the sync yet it's less than on the tracker so very day I'm losing stepsYesterday by the end of the day I was 1000 less 
I Don't add manual exercises
It's not ever done this before so usually tallies exactly with the tracker

 I'm still not sure wichwhof the 4 possible devices the Fitbit app is running on. 

Have you killed and restarted the app? 

Logged out and back in?
