When I select run or hike options on my Surge, the distance is recorded and saved and is visible on the desktop window of the activity.
But the distance is not included in my total distance for the day.
I have also noticed that pace on the Surge screen during run/hike is shown as what fraction of a mile is covered in a time period. Until this week it was recorded as minutes per mile.
These may be separate issues.

Thanks for getting back @74prof! I'd suggest restarting your Surge a couple of times in case that you haven't do so, it will help to solve any hardware issues your Surge might be having. Then give it a try again!

Hi @74prof thanks for stopping by! Hope you’re enjoying the forums!
That sounds really odd? This is not an expected behavior from your Surge. I'd like to know where are you checking this information at? Would you mind going to the online Fitbit.com Dashboard and check the information under "Log" > "Activities" > "Choose the day". As you can see in the picture the time line for the day shows the activities details.
You can see yellow lines which means that the intensity of the activity changed, some other cases when it is a very active activity the lines will be green. If you hoover the mouse on the lines you will see the exact time when those steps were recorded. As distance is taken from steps, if you can see the steps there is because the distance was taken too.
You can also look for it under "Activity History" logs at the bottom of the page, click on view details to see how these stats affected your day.
About the pace information, would you mind give more details about it? If you can attach an screenshot too, it'd be great!
I'll be around!

I was in bicycle not run/walk mode.
Thus both problems.
