Surge not recording steps or distance

I hiked 5.1 miles today and my fit bit shows that hike, but the distance recored shows only ,5 miles and only 1782 steps.  Yesterday everything was ok when I synced the surge.  Any ideas?

yesterday and today my distance and steps did not sync to my dashboard.  I see the distances in the activities window but not in the dashboard.

@gschnauzer Welcome to the Fitbit Community! I recommend performing a restart on your Surge (check @SunsetRunner's steps on that post). Also, make sure you have the "goals tile" shown on your dashboard. The distance and steps will be shown there. I left a picture below showing how it looks. Make sure to adjust your stride length to better accuracy overall (check @SteveH's post) and also set your dominant hand setting to "non dominant" as that will increase the sensitivity towards step count.
